Peru's ambassador to China reaffirmed his country's commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic relations with China at a Beijing luncheon on March 30, emphasizing policy stability, investment protection and embassy-level support for Chinese enterprises seeking to enter the Peruvian market.

Ambassador Carlos Raul Vasquez Corrales said that Peru places great importance on economic and trade cooperation with China, and that relevant economic and foreign investment policies will remain stable. Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest and operate in Peru, with access to policy support in special economic zones and other platforms, he added.

Foreign direct investment stock in Peru has now exceeded $150 billion, with China among the main source countries, Vasquez said.

The ambassador stressed that Peru offers foreign investors national treatment, with guarantees on currency exchange, profit repatriation and tax incentives. He highlighted key investment sectors including mining, infrastructure and agriculture, noting that the Chancay Port will accelerate agricultural exports to China.

Peru has launched 88 priority public-private partnership investment projects in 2026, totaling $21 billion and covering transportation, tourism and water resources, he said.

The embassy stands ready to help Chinese enterprises access local resources, understand investment policies and build medium- to long-term partnerships, Vasquez added, while also improving conditions through cultural exchanges and the release of investment guides.
